Hi all, my mom is 75 years old and she is addicted to pain killers , especially oxys. She has dementia, but she never skipped her tablets. I tried doing hiding the tablets, but she gets violent when she doesn’t get them. I am really scared. My husband is saying me to admit her in a drug addiction recovery centre. Has any of you gone through such situations? Will the addiction recovery centre provide proper care of my mom? Will she able to recover? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Addiction to anything will not go at once. It takes time to get recover from the addiction. If she is taking drugs daily, ask her to skip the drug by 1 or 2 days, then slowly increase the time. This will help her to get out of this addiction.
