Hi. My mom is 78 years old. She had undergone a major surgery from a cataract center in Toronto. She suffers from dementia. Therefore, I am taking extra care as she cannot manage the medicines and eye drops all by herself. But the problem is she has the habit of rubbing her eyes after waking up. I am worried whether it may cause any damage to her eyes. She is wearing a protective eye shield while sleeping. But immediately while removing the shield, she has the tendency to rub her eyes. I tried to make her understand that she had undergone a cataract surgery, but sometimes she totally forgets about it. I have no clue about what to do? Do you have any tips to deal this situation?
