Electricity is a normal part of everyday life and it’s easy to forget how dangerous it can be. Electrical accidents in the home can pose a more significant risk to older or vulnerable people.
Here are some tips to help keep your old parents safe around electricity:

    • Check cords, outlets, switches and appliances for signs of damage
    • Check for RCDs
    • Check the smoke alarm
    • Do not use extension cords permanently
    • Install ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) in areas where electricity is near a water source
    • Call a reliable licensed electrician and do a complete electrical inspection frequently
