Walking around, especially parks and with close friends or family members is stimulating. Even a trip to the grocery store will lift your mother-in-law’s spirits. Swimming in a lap lane will be beneficial, if it is possible your mother-in-law does not have to share the lane. If your mother-in-law has not completely lost her hearing, try dancing–no matter if it is swing, ballroom, country, cha-cha, western! Not only does that activity burn body fat, it benefits the heart and muscle tone, increases balance and coordination, and is a great way to socialize. Dancing fosters a sense of belonging.
